EMIRATES-QANTAS AND MALINDO-LION ARE GREAT DEALS FOR ASIA
ALAN Joyce, the chief executive officer of Australia's Qantas has done good this time, so some say in Australia.
But just about this time last year, he was the most unpopular for having shut down the Australian carrier Qantas fleet briefly, because he did not want to succumb to pressure from the unions.
He has tried every effort to get a merger partner for Qantas but nothing worked.
He has courted AirAsia and Malaysia Airlines, and even crafted a plan to move the international business out to Singapore, but that has not materialised because the unions were against any shift.
