AIRBUS: 'SOME DIFFICULTY' REACHING A380 TARGET FOR 2012

Airbus says it may not meet its 2012 sales target for its A380 superjumbo jet, possible fallout from "minor" a wing-crack issue that may have put off prospective airline customers, Reuters reports.

"We have a target of 30 aircraft but we probably will have some difficulty reaching it," Reuters quotes Airbus CEO Fabrice Bregier says saying on Monday ahead of the ILA Berlin Air Show.

Earlier this year, hairline cracks were found on the wings of some A380s. The cracks were not considered to be a critical safety issue, but they did require inspections and fixes to the issue.

"On the A380 I must say the priority this year was to fix the wing issue. It's a minor thing but many customers are upset for good reasons," Bregier is quoted as saying by AFP.
