MADURAI AIRPORT GETS INTERNATIONAL TAG TODAY
Madurai,India : A charted flight from Malaysia will fly away with the distinction of being the first international aircraft to land in Madurai on Saturday.
The landing of the flight will also mark Madurai airport becoming an international terminal.
Two charted flights from Malaysia, carrying a total of 23 businessmen, have got clearance from Director General of Civil Aviation to land in Madurai on Saturday. The aircraft is scheduled to fly back to Malaysia on August 28.
While Mikin Lanka, a low-cost Sri Lankan airline has filed its schedule to operate its international service between Madurai and Colombo from September 1, Spicejet has been keeping one of its aircraft idle for nearly four hours on three days a week at Madurai airport for the last few days expressing its eagerness to become the early bird to fly out to Colombo from Madurai.
