Manilla,Philippines : Divers have found the engine of the plane that crashed into the sea off Masbate on August 18 with Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo on board.Technnical and Philippine Coast Guard divers located the engine at 12:42 p.m. Tuesday, while a state funeral for Robredo was ongoing in Naga City, radio dzBB reported.

Divers were quoted in the report as saying the engine was estimated to be 180 feet underwater.A report by GMA TV's John Consulta said the divers had to use trimix just so they could last longer underwater.

The report quoted Coast Guard Bicol Commodore Joel Garcia as saying they hope to retrieve the engine within the day.But the report also said the Coast Guard was concerned about the strong current in the Ticao Channel.

It said the divers' main concern is to make sure the engine is secured intact so they can turn it over to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, which is investigating the crash.

The plane crashed en route to Naga City from Cebu, killing Robredo, the plane's pilot and the co-pilot. Robredo's aide was the lone survivor.
